Studio Policy 2021-2022

Schedule, and Lessons:

Private Lessons are offered in 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute periods in studio.  Online lessons are reserved for sickness. Covid sanitation practices will still be practiced (hand washing upon arrival to studio, wiping of keys between students, air purification).

If your child has any fever, cold, flu, cough, or runny nose symptoms please notify me and we’ll schedule an online lesson.  If your child is getting over a cold and still has symptoms, they will be asked to wear a mask during their lesson till all symptoms have gone.   If anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, please notify me and we will switch to online lessons till your quarantine period is over and everyone is symptom free.

My Responsibilities:

I will teach your child the language of music. I teach music so each student can

learn to express themselves in ways that words and feelings can’t. My studio is a positive, enthusiastic

nurturing environment. I will work to create a learning environment that best fits your child’s specific

learning needs.

Student and Family’s Responsibilities:

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books and music. To make progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Students should fill in their practice time in Tonara (the practice app) for each week and parents should monitor practicing and see that assignments are completed.

Practicing Estimations: minimum expectations

Beginning level students begin with 20 - 30 minutes a day

Late Elementary level students, increase to 30 - 45 minutes a day

Intermediate level students, increase to 45 - 1 hour a day

Advanced level students, increase to 1 - 1 1/2 hours a day

If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. Sending a

quick text prior to arriving to the lesson will help me be sensitive to the needs of your child. A little

heads up can make the difference between a great lesson and a difficult one.

All students are encouraged to play at the two recitals each year: December and June.

The best compliment I can get is a referral from a studio family.

I am looking forward to working with your children this year. My mission is to have a fun concrete curriculum to build confidence and excitement in learning to play the piano. I want to create strong musicians that will continue to enjoy playing the piano throughout their entire lives. Learning can be fun and it begins in my studio.

Musically Yours,

Olivia Donald
